What Is Evidence-based Treatment?

What is evidence-based treatment?

In addition to including a broader perspective on healing and the body, such as drawing upon traditional healing from other cultures and in nature, naturopathic oncology prioritizes scientific research to make evidence-based decisions and treatment recommendations.

Much of the substantial and ever-growing body of research in integrative oncology is guided by single intervention randomized controlled trials. A database of human clinical trials maintained by OncANP provides summaries and best practices to clinicians and students working with cancer patients for education, safety, and clinical decision making.

Dr. Michelle Niesley has a commitment to staying up-to-date on current medical literature relevant to naturopathic oncology, attending conferences, and engaging in her own research. Dr. Michelle Niesley has published research in the Journal of Clinical Oncology as well as others in her time as Director of Clinical Research in CTCA, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

See Dr. Niesley discuss what inspired her to pursue naturopathic medicine in this interview conducted by the Association of Accredited Naturopathic Medical Colleges.
